A couple of day’s ago I began reading a book called ‘The Go Giver’, by Bob Burg and John David Mann, which carrys the tag line ‘A little story about a powerful business idea’ well today I finished it and I have to say that it was one of the nicest books I have read in a long time. As I got further into this book I experienced several instances of the hair on the back of my neck tingling, you see it became clear early on that some of the principles in this book resonate deeply with my own core beliefs, and the further I read into this story the more excited I became as new ideas and a deeper understanding of how I can apply the lessons contained herein to my own personal life and my plans for my business future started to develope, and the more I thought about those burgeoning plans the more they evolved !
It’s a simple little book about a guy’s ambition to reach the top in the company he works for, he’s a bit of a go-getter but seems to find the harder he works the further away his goals seem to be, the guy’s name is Joe and he is desperate to land a big account so he can make his quota for the third quarter, so he get’s in touch with someone known as ‘The Chairman’ a legendary business consultant who has all the contacts and ‘clout’ Joe thinks will help him land this big account…

Now my advice is… go buy this book, I got mine from Amazon.com for 8 quid, read it two or three times, print out the 5 laws of stratospheric success and stick them above your desk or by the side of your bed… read them every day and learn them by heart, because it is my belief that if you apply the underlying lessons and adopt the principles within that you really will change your life for the better.
Actually I think this book is so relevant that I would suggest this to use as a bonus for anyone selling physical products like manuals, cd’s and dvd sets to do with home business. Put this in with your front end offer (if you dont already know the basics behind selling offline physical products… you create a cash funnel, to sell increasing more expensive products or packages, build your list and get your name out there. You first offer a high value front end product or product package, these often barely break even due to the costs of off-line direct mail campagnes (postage, renting a mailing list and reproduction costs) and the fact you want it to be as attractive as possible by keeping the price down and build your customer list, you then follow up a week or so later with your backend offer of a much higher value product or package which you would charge perhaps four to six times more for… this is where you start to bring home the bacon… and later still you send out an even higher priced offer where you could make ten times the production/mailing cost in profit).
Just like with on-line products, you offer off-line products with a variety of bonuses to sweeten the deal, so what if you send out your front end product/package, the customer receives it opens it and finds on top of everything he has ordered… an extra gift wrapped item, marked as a personal gift from you as an unadvertised surprise bonus… an extra thank you for trusting you with his order… now this wasn’t advertised so the customer did not expect it, that surprise factor immediately catapults you head and shoulders above the majority of the competition, there will be an emotional response in the customer because you have given them extra value above what was advertised… you have surprised them in a pleasant way and so this great value package suddenly feels even better and maybe the customer now feels more justified in their purchase, which is good for you.
You should urge the customer to start reading their book this very day, a week later send them your back end offer because if they are pleased with the front end package they bought from you then they will likely be receptive to another offer from you… and if they have read and been suitably impressed with their surprise gift that may well make them even more likely to take advantage of your new offer.
Now of course the golden rule in this business is to give excellent value for money, so if you worked hard to put together an excellent front end package, you should really pull out all the stops to make your second offer as good as you possibly can… dont drop the ball by being stingy or throwing together a poorly thought out offer, aim to give extraordinary value for money and hey why not throw in another unadvertised surprise bonus too? dont forget your customer has trusted you with their money a second time so you need to make sure they are in no doubt it is money well spent, impress your customers a second time and they will be locked into your personal fan club so to speak… they will look seriously at every future offer you make to them… and as we all know the money is in the list… all you gotta do is monetize it!.
So the lesson here is… if you work hard to give people what they want, if you serve them well and give fantastic value they will reward you with their custom not just once but quite possibly many times over… this encompasses the laws of value, compensation and influence… and this builds your business empire and helps you to achieve the future YOU want!.
So to really succeed, not just in this business but in any walk of life, just mix need with desire and apply the five laws of stratospheric success to your plans… well go on then what are you waiting for…?
