The Great Escape (or start a ‘work from home’ internet business and change your life)
In 1944 , during the 2nd world war, a group of Allied prisoners being held in Stalag Luft III () in Poland , embarked upon a bold plan to escape their nazi captors, this has been called ‘The Great Escape” and has been immortalised both in books and film, you see in time of war it is considered a prisoner’s duty to try to escape captivity and return to their own forces so they can continue the fight against oppression or whatever it is they are fighting for, you may well have read stories or seen films based on the exploits of prisoners of war, and may be aware that the punishment meted out both to escapees who were later recaptured and to the other prisoners left behind was harsh to say the least, indeed escapees who were later recaptured often faced the ultimate punishment … death by firing squad.
But despite all the setbacks and misfortune, despite the seemingly insurmountable odds against success and a certainty that anyone recaptured would be put to death, still these brave young souls refused to accept their lot in life as prisoners so with the courage, commitment, perseverance and absolute determination to succeed they kept on working toward their ultimate goal of freedom, some gained that freedom and made it home safe, but many more didn’t , the odds were stacked against them but still they tried anyway, so what on earth has this got to do with starting your own home business that will change your life?
Read the above paragraph again, slowly, do words like “setback”, “insurmountable odds”, “refused to accept their lot in life”, “courage”, “commitment”, “perseverance”, “determination”, “the odds were stacked against them”, “but still they tried anyway”.
So the story is about a group of people who did not like their confinement and loss of freedom, and who decided to do something about it …
compare that with modern life, how it is so expensive to have your own home (rented or owned) to raise a family, to drive a reasonable car, to give your family a decent holiday each year, just raising your family’s standard of living is a constant uphill struggle.
Now I’m sure you have heard many times how you don’t need money to be happy, that material things don’t matter etc, (the only people I have ever heard say those things were either broke (always have been and probably always will be) or monks).
Yes some people can be happy with very little in life, but I know from personal experience how struggling from day to day to pay the bills, put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, clothe my children, can be very stressful when you realise that yet again we have spent more than we earn because the car needed urgent repairs to get it through its MOT or the toilet became blocked and needed the services of a plumber, or the washing machine packed in and the fridge loses its cool … and so on, so we borrow money, eventually we pay that back, then not long later we borrow again … and so on and so on.
It’s groundhog day, after day, after day, when my employer provides over-time I’m there 7 days a week, the kids miss me, my marriage comes under even more strain …I’ve no way out and no hope of making things better, or have I?
Because one day I became informed of “alternatives, and opportunities”, I started looking into the possibility of working from home, because just like those prisoners of war, I wanted… needed, a way out… does this situation sound familiar to you?.
After More than 2 years of studying, buying products by the bin full, following conflicting information and generally going round in circles I have finally (with a bit of help!) Found my direction, I am just now starting to see the fruit of my labours, no I’m not rolling in cash, but I am starting to make one or 2 sales online, it’s only a trickle of money right now but by holding my course, applying what I have so far learned, and continuing to educate myself about working from home and making money online that trickle will gain momentum and eventually give me the freedom from financial worry, freedom from working 7 days a week and freedom to give my children opportunities in life they might otherwise never have.
And do you know why I have reached this position (notice I say “why” and not how … that comes later) it’s because, like those prisoners of war, I refuse to accept my situation, I refuse to be restricted and dictated to by the hand that life has dealt me, I know that by starting my own online business I can correct the work/reward imbalance which for so long has seen me working like a slave to support my family.
I already have some of the seeds of success in place, now I just need to nurture them as they slowly grow and take shape … the shape of my new life …
Success isn’t given to us on a plate, we have to work for it, earn it, mould and shape it to our own personal requirements, and yes it can be done, I’m on my way now because like those poor unfortunate POWs I absolutely refuse to accept there isn’t a better way, starting your own online business is not that hard if you follow proven methods of people who have already made it or are in the process of making it.
Now for the bad news … many people who start an online business fail to get anywhere, they fail to make enough sales to justify the outlay, or don’t make any sales at all, some people don’t even get as far as putting up their own website before finding it is just too hard for them and giving up, the sad fact is at least half of these people actually could set up and run a successful business if they only kept trying, refused to give up, refused to even consider failure and just kept on working at it, even more of those “failures” could vastly improve their chances of fulfilling their dreams if only they signed up to a mentoring program, like I did.
But to have any chance of success you must adopt a mentality like those POWs, … you want to change your life, you want true financial freedom, you want to be in a position where you can live life on your terms …
and you can do this, but you must have the desire to change and improve your life, commitment to do whatever it takes to help bring about that change, perseverance to work and work and work until you get it right, determination to never give up regardless of the obstacles, to never give in, to never accept defeat, other people have achieved fantastic success on the Internet, many started from worse positions than me and you, now those people are earning more in a single week than we earn in a year.
Those prisoners of war faced death if they failed, you face groundhog day if you fail,
those prisoners who did not try to escape condemned themselves to captivity till the end of the war, many died in captivity anyway,
If you don’t try to change your life, nothing will change for the better and you will never know true freedom, it’s your choice, fear is just an illusion, and can be conquered with the right mindset, if you tell yourself you can’t do something you have already made it 10 times more difficult than it actually is.
So where do we start?, well you could try clicking on the ‘Free Stuff‘ tab at the top of this page, there you will find a free report which tells some honest truths about succeeding online, a report which some people might find quite shocking, but, if you follow it might just mean the difference between success and failure, also, an ebook which perfectly compliments that report, and again if you follow this it will help you develope the mindset for success.
While your at it why not sign up for my free report on starting a home based business?, it will give you some insight and suggest an excellent and easy way to start with a low cost yet powerful training product which I myself am using.

Hi Pete, very powerful post here. The analogy is very apt, if a little uncomfortable. You are absolutely right that many fail because they give up, they don’t have the drive to take them through the obstacles (‘oh, here’s a fence, that means we can’t go over there, I’ll stay here then’). The POW’s did what they had to do to get where they wanted to be. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with the challenge!
Enjoy the journey.
Mandy
Hi Pete, you chose my favorite film as an example and to be honest i couldn’t have put it better myself.
When i first started my online activities i was going in circles for ages. Hitting a hurdle that i couldn’t get my head around and i would move onto another “Guarantee success product” only to find another section that i couldn’t understand, and so the circles went on.
That was until i found myself a mentor, the same mentor that you talk about here Pete, and i can highly recommend that your readers take notice of your advice. It stopped me chasing my tail and i now have a product online and 2 more planned.
A man once said to me “If things don’t change…..they’ll stay as they are”.
Only we can change our situations for the better.
Glad to see you taking part in the 100 blog comment challenge Pete, i’ve added your details to my contributors page.
Best of luck, Barry
Pete, congrats on the few sales that are trickling through. That’s a few more sales than you had before you started your journey. Stay the course and you will see more success.
Of course, it helps to have a few useful plugins installed. Subscribe to comments is one such tool as each comment author can then opt to receive updates whenever a new comment is posted. For example, with this comment I will not know that you have approved it unless you visit my blog or have some other plugin in use that helps keep your comment authors informed of activity on your blog.
Best wishes for the future.

Hi Pete, what a good motivational post. It’s thoughts like what you wrote that boost me to continue forward. I will not be a prisoner to life. I will escape it’s confinements. Terry Conti
Hi Pete,
Like you, I had been trapped for years. But I realized the trap in a very very hard way. So hard that there comes a time when I almost give it all up altogether.
I didn’t obviously
Is tales like what you shared here [The Great Escape] that really comfort me and gives me the strength and hope to hold on and move on.
I am glad I did.
And I really thank you of using this inspirational story to make me realize further, that even though our situation isn’t as tough as those in the Great Escape, our urge to live Free is nevertheless as real as anything in life.
I had opt in for your millionaire mindset e-book and will begin to read it as soon as I am escape from this prison today, if you know what I mean.
Thanks again
Cheers

Hi Pete
Thank you for a brilliant post and although money doesn’t buy hapiness it does make life a lot easier and more stress free.
If you have a really strong WHY you are doing this whether it be a better lifestyle for you and your family or you want to buy yourself that dream car – having a strong WHY will give you the focus and the drive needed to accomplish your goals.
Nice to meet you and good luck with the challenge.
Regards
Dawn
Hi Mandy, Barry, Michael, Terry, JasonSer and Dawn, Thank you all for your kind comments, and thanks for reminding me about the plugins. Something I have noticed from the various comments around the ‘challenge’ posts is the depth of support and positive, inspirational advice that is being given.
This challenge looks like it could shape up to be much bigger than its original idea of driving traffic to our blogs… think about it…all these excellent quality posts, all the supportive and intelligent comments adding quality content to each post, maybe someone could put together a big fat report based on our challenge posts and comments? maybe connected to promoting the masterclass and the fact there is much more to the course than just the course itself.
However this all turns out, I think Jacinta came up with a gem of an idea with the challenge, well done everyone!.
Best regards
Pete Chapman
Hi Pete
Great post…and congratulations on making some sales online.
You are in the minority of people who try…and by reading your motivations it’s very easy to see why.
I wish you every success in your online business and if ever I could help you out in any way I would be more than happy to
Take it easy
cheers
Steve
Very inspirational Pete, well done.
For 30 years I had a great working life, with freedom AND money, because in 1974 I bought “The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches” by Joe Karbo.
Unlike the majority of the 3 million people who bought that book, I did something with it. I set up a direct mail holiday company, and never looked back until divorce, recession AND boredom made me close the business.
Now, with the Internet, the opportunities are MASSIVE. Working from from home gives you complete freedom, and I agree with Dawn, money doesn’t buy you happiness, but it’s great for stress relief.
Good luck with the 100 comment challenge Pete.
John
Hi John, I remember that book!, I bought it in the late eighties… and yes I was one of the majority who did bugger all with it… at that stage of my life I just didn’t get it (or was I to lazy and wanted it handed to me on a plate!?).
Wow sounds like you had a tripple wammey knock you for six!, hope you are doing fine now…
Yes the opportunities on-line are massive, but that doesn’t mean its easy for the majority of people, thats why its so important people know this so they can go into it with their eyes wide open…and prepared for the hard work and frustration which lies ahead of them.
Those who really make the effort can succeed, but those who dont obviously wont.
Thanks for stopping by John
All the best
Pete
Hey Pete
Hey Pete Excellent Post.
I have just lost a substancial amount of money on a network market business. Most people would tend to give up after this experience, but I am not prepared to give up just yet. I am sure many people will relate to your artical. The analogy you used with the pow’s is very true and a good way of explaining the determination needed to suceed on line.Internet marketing is not easy it is very competative and most people including myself often think it is an easy way to make money.
New skills take time to master and most of us are impatient and want it all now. Thank you for your well written artical.
Hi Stan thank you for reading my post, I’m sorry to hear you have lost a lot of money, when that happens it is always a major downer and can dishearten many people to the point there they convince themselves ‘it cant be done’ … but to look on the bright side you are already setting yourself up for success by refusing to give up!, whether that success comes soon or is still far off in the future none of us can say, but hold your course and at some point you will turn a corner and that uphill struggle will start to level off.
I have spent a silly amount of money during my journey, three quarters of it just didn’t need to be spent, but I just put it down to being part of the learning process.
Good luck on your journey Stan (you dont actually need luck, just determination, a willingness to work at it and to look at everything from multiple angles)
Best Regards
Pete
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, it’s a great post. What you mentioned is so true, the world we are living in here is just so realistic that sometimes our mind and thoughts might get affected or invaded by these financial stuff and problem. Eventually, we get trapped in work which we don’t even like or enjoy. I am very new in this world and only few days experience makes me feel free and real. More real than my job of selling memory cards or dram to my customers… I try my best to break free and now my mind is so open. Like what you mentioned in the post,” if you tell yourself you can’t do something you have already made it 10 times more difficult than it actually is.” This is so brilliant and so powerful. I really love your post, thanks. Pete.
Cheers
Connie
Hi Connie, Thank you for your kind comments, what you say is so true… just studying to become an internet marketer brings about a change inside of you, you begin to realise the many possibilities, but of course the reality is that becoming a successful internet marketer is not as easy for the majority of us as many of the established marketers and so called ‘guru’s’ would have us believe!, but still, with much hard work, determination and the mindset to never give up no matter what, it is certainly possible to establish an extremely good on-line career.
I hope you find all that you are looking for in your journey to improve your life,
Best Wishes
Pete
Hi Pete,
This story sounds oh so familiar.
One of the biggest problems I faced was the “Gurus” selling the magic button.
Make a million by this time tomorrow type of thing.
It took me a while to realize it was all BS.
I joined up with Alex Jeffreys and have never looked back.
I now believe in myself and my goals.
Good Luck Pete.
Pete
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Pete, when you think about how many sales letters for ‘instant biz’ and ‘business in a box’ type products we have read, which promise high income ‘…in 7 days or less!’ you would think every street would have a millionaire marketer on it!, the reality is of course that getting into internet marketing and making a living from it is far from easy for the majority of us, it takes a load of time, patience and the determination to never give up no matter what, and it doesnt help that many of those products just dont seem to tell the whole story!.
I’m not saying most of those ‘start a business from your kitchen table’ products dont work, because the fact is most are workable so long as you keep at that one product until you make it work, and if I’d done that when I first started I’d be a bloody millionaire by now!.
What I’ve noticed this year is that more and more products ARE telling the whole story, and actually do contain all the info you need to start up your own kitchen table biz, but even with all the information in front of you it still isnt as easy or straight forward as you would think… because everybody is different, we learn at different rates and understand in different ways.
So what we really need is a true push button business in a box… just add company name and payment details and press go!, but then that would take all the fun out of the learning curve and the final satisfaction we will get when we do finally make it.
Here’s to making life easier…but not too easy!
Best Regards
Pete Chapman
Thanks for your advice,Pete. I will work hard and try to keep my balance.:)
Will catch later.
Cheers
Connie.
Hi Pete.
This is a bloody amazing post. I think you just hit the nail right on the head.
The POW’s determination to get out and get home was strong and that’s whats needed if we are to succeed in anything in life.
I’ve just signed up for your ebook and emails so I’m off to get a cuppa and have a good read.
Thanks Pete.
All the best
Gert
Hi Gert and thank you for your nice comment!, yes getting the right ‘mindset’ is half the battle to starting your own e-biz and making it successful, and reading the ‘…millionaire mindset’ book can help with this.
Hope you like it!, oh and over the coming weeks I’ll be adding more products to my ‘Free Stuff’ section, which I’m sure you will also find useful.
Dont forget to Keep those dream stealer’s at arms length!
Best Regards
Pete
Very nice post Pete. You already know what and how I feel about achieving freedom in my life.
I also know that it is the action steps that must be taken on this plane of existence if we want something manifested here because this is the realm of the physical.
Dream big, taken Action and never give up! Thanks for the inspiring words today. The more I hear them the easier it is to embrace them…
Blog is looking great Pete!
Kathy
Hi Kathy glad you liked my post, and yes i’v been working on my blog a bit since you first visited, still a way to go yet though.
‘Dream big, taken Action and never give up!’…. I like those words, they sum it all up really.
Thanks for visiting
All the best
Pete
Hi Pete,
Brilliant post…love the analagy…as you said the why is more important than the how.
Getting the little trickles of money must give you a boost?
Well done…look forward to much more
Thanks to this challenge I have the pleasure of reading some quality blogs and meeting some very knowlegable and helpful people.
Good to meet you Pete.
Cheers
Bryan
Hi Bryan good to meet you too, glad you liked my post.
I am methodically visiting the blogs of all the people involved in the challenge, starting at the beginning of the list and moving down, and yes you are absolutely right about the quality posts people are writing, and the comments other members are making too, there is a lot of high quality content and it is inspiring and makes good reading.
Just getting my first sale was a boost, it completely validates all the time spent studying this business.
All the best and thanks for visiting
Pete Chapman
A brilliant post, Pete, that I’m sure everyone who reads it can relate to.
Good luck with your online ventures!
Stuart
Hi Stuart and Rob, thanks for visiting my blog, glad you liked the post.
When I sat down to write my very first post it took me ages to put it together, I guess a mixture of writers block and not wanting to write anything which might sound a bit stupid held me back at first, but when it came to this post, it almost wrote itself…. so maybe there is something here which other masterclass members who might be struggling with their posting should think about, I think I reached a point where I’d built up all these frustrations because of all the wrong turns I’d taken, money wasted etc, then I seemed to cross one last (mental/emotional?) obstacle and that was it, like opening the flood gates, hence my 100 comment post was an emotionally driven piece born out of the realisation that I can and will succeed in this business, and the desire to urge other people forward who might be faltering in their efforts.
And those masterclass members who are struggling and are filled with self doubt should take note… you can reach this point too if only you keep working at it and dont even entertain the idea of giving up, no matter how long it takes or what other people say to deter you.
All it takes is one sale to validate your belief in this business and the efforts you put in, then a couple more just to prove to yourself it wasn’t a fluke!, the hard work doesn’t stop there because you are just starting out at the beginning, but something does change deep down inside of you, and that change brings a calmness through renewed self belief that you really can do it!.
All the best guys
Pete Chapman
Hey Pete,
Awesome article man! We definitely need to have the determination of a POW when it comes to our financial freedom. Thanks for sharing!

My Video Talk
Hi Pete great post, we have all thought of giving up but its glad to see that you are gaining some measure of success, its what keeps us going in our ambition to be part of that great escape.
Cheers
Rob
Hi Pete,
I see a lot of guys in the 100 blog comments challenge who have been in the same predicament. Give up Don’t give up, What if I do, what if I don’t, Where will I be?
To continue with your analogy, we all need to keep digging the tunnel to get to the end and finally reach the ‘Steve McQueen’ moment of punching through to freedom and success.
If you stop you will fail, if you carry on you will succeed.
Excellent and powerful post Pete, cheers.
Hi Pete
I loved the post. Very inspiring. I too loved the “why”. With so much input, and lots of pondering, something has to come out of it. Good placement is not the easiest thing.
Thanks,
Alex
Hi Pete
Your post rang very true with me, as most of it I have done, however I spent too long in the wilderness without direction and focus.
This year I found both, although the money pot still alludes me.
Only last week I was looking at my Aweber account and thinking this is pointless, no one cares! This week however, with one JV event and a few articles written subscribers are beginning to appear.
Stick with it and get a mentor, your relationship depends upon it!
igor
Hi Igor, Alex and Daniel, thank you all for commenting, I wonder if it is such a bad thing spending time ‘out in the wilderness’? all that frustration, trial and error? because I think it helps to make us more determined to succeed and when we do wont we appreciate it all the more?.
Yes finding a mentor does give you direction and focus we need, and I am so glad John Thornhill provided a payment plan or I would not be here now, in fact I probably would not even have a blog and would probably still be going round in circles chaseing my tail!.
For many people such as myself, having the ‘need’ to change is important, because it is that ‘need’ which helps to drive me on.
Daniel…”To continue with your analogy, we all need to keep digging the tunnel to get to the end and finally reach the ‘Steve McQueen’ moment of punching through to freedom and success.” That is an excellent statement and fits perfectly with my post!.
Thanks again
Pete Chapman
I just had a story sent to me by an IM coach about one of his students who finally made it on his 10th attempt at launching a successful product. The moral of the story of course is never
give up. But we have to remember that it all take money and some people simply can’t afford to keep ploughing money into project after project. There are other ways to make money on the internet of course that cost very little money.
Sandy
Hi Sandy Thanks for stopping by, yes for many people breaking into Internet Marketing is a long hard job, not at all like we are led to believe, but staying the course until we do ‘make our break’ leads to the rewards we all want.
But it does not have to involve constantly ploughing large amounts of money into it, yes there is a required on-going investment in services like web hosting, mentoring program, autoresponder service (unless you use an autoresponder product like autoresponse plus, like I do, which has no ongoing fees, just your one time purchase cost) etc but as far as other costs are concerned they can be kept to a minimum… the trick here is to stick to just one area and keep at it until you get results, its the frequent switching from one area to another which eats up the cash.
Best regards and good luck on your journey
Pete
Hi Pete,
Very powerful and thought provoking post. It really made me stop and ask myself Why Am I Doing This? I am doing this for my own freedom, my partners freedom and most of all my daughters freedom. Freedom to be able to do what we want to do, not what we have to do.
Good luck with the Challenge.
Take care.
Robyn
Hi Robyn, I think for the majority of us to become successful marketers we need a very good reason, because lets face it learning this business is not easy, even with good mentoring and step by step instruction manuals and videos we still come across situations which throw obstacles in our way, obstacles which can take a while to learn how to overcome, so for many of us having that very good reason to succeed is essential to keep us on track.
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
I know how that feels. I am in the same boat. I am in manufacturing and when overtime is offered, I’m there. Why? Because I need the money. It seems no matter how much over time I do though, something always comes up and I wind up spending it anyway and never seem to get ahead. It’s tough working for someone else unless you’re the CEO making millions of dollars a year.
I, like you have the same mindset. There has to be a better way. I have found it myself in a coaching program by Dave Nicholson. Although I am behind a bit right now, I am determined to see it through and make something of myself. I am sick of being broke. I have dreams and goals that I want to achieve before I die and an online home based business is where it’s at for me. I will never give up, never quit no matter how long it takes.
Thanks for posting that. I needed to hear that I’m not alone out there.
Cheers,
Steve
Hi Steve you hit the nail on the head there, it is so difficult to get ahead especially when you have a family to support, and yes there are many of us out there in that situation.
Dont worry about getting behind on your course… we all work at different rates, and I’m well behind on my masterclass course, but I’m not worried because I know I wont give up and will get there in the end.
Reading your comment Steve, I am certain that if you keep your determination, at some point you will get to where you want to be…because its the people who quit who don’t make it, and neither you nor myself fit into that category.
Good luck in your endevors Steve, you don’t actually need luck, just your determination and will to succeed.
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
Many war films are the same with one thing in mind determination, dedication, and stop at nothing until the job is done. Take “Saving Private Ryan”
A story to save a mothers son after losing her others. The group of soldiers take to looking for Ryan saving him and taking him back to is mother.
They stop at nothing to save this soldier. Some dying on the process. Ok we don’t need to take our lives to become successful online. But how dedicated and motivated are we. Do we stop when something goes wrong. Are we not getting the ROI from our time or advertising?
Many people come online and expect to be in the money with in days and weeks. Ok there are methods to do this but it is a long term career that I and probably most of the other people here are looking towards.
So thanks for the motivated post Pete and keep it up!
Cheers
Craig
Thanks Craig, your comment is well written and makes a good point, I think some people can come on-line and be making money within a few weeks, but I think the few that can, fit into a small category of people who not only ‘get it’ straight off, but who also have plenty of time to put into it and probably don’t have the long work hours and family commitments which many of us have. Its the lack of time which often holds us back and slows our progress, that has certainly been true for me.
I look at my day job… I’m a skilled machine setter working for an engineering company, but it took me years to become really good at it and that was working full time!, is becoming a good internet marketer any different? no its not, so people need to realise this and dig their feet in for a long haul to where their on-line business can realistically replace their day jobs.
The difference between my day job and my business is that I am restricted now to the annual pay rise (haven’t had one this year) and regular overtime to improve my finances, any further position upgrades are very unlikely, but in my business the point will come when my earnings far outstrip my day job, and the benefits which come with working for yourself are many,
Yes we have to keep going and never give up…
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete. Great post. I hope it inspires anyone who is encountering hurdles and obstacles in their internet marketing online business.
I’ve posted a link to this page on identi.ca for you (makes a change from Twitter)
Hi Martyn, glad you liked the post, I always get a feeling of achievement whenever anyone finds any of my blog content helpful or inspiring, because that is one of my goals in life… to make a difference.
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete
I think for the majority of people the online journey to making any sort of decent money has been a long one (myself included). My motto has always been never, never, never, ever give up!
One of my daughters gave me a soft filled ‘bash it’ doll for those times when I just have to vent but never giving up (must admit I haven’t been doing much bashing of late) – good signs methinks!
Best of luck and may that sales machine be forever rolling for you.
Anne
Hi Anne, you got it right there… if you really want to change something for the better you can not give up just because it gets a bit hard…
Good luck in your on-line journey
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
You really can change your life completely online. Lots of people have done it online without having a PhD!
It is easier to become a millionaire by doing an Internet business than an offline business, (because of the advantages than an online business can give you), HOWEVER I agree with you. Success isn’t given to us on a plate. We have to work for it really hard like in any offline business.
If you don’t try to change your life and don’t have the correct mindset then nothing will change for the better!!
Unfortunately there are many scams out there promising that you can make 10 million dollars overnight! This is further from truth and everyone should avoid them.
OK. I wish you all the best in your online business. Try to be honest in your internet business and help people as more as you can and the success will come.
Take care,
Andreas
Hi Andreas, thanks for stopping by, your comment tells it like it is and yes honesty is the best and only way to proceed in your business,
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete
Nice post and a very strong message which is put in a put across in a brilliant way. I would be honest, that I get disheartened and sometime that negative feeling plays on me … but then I am determined to move forward and fight it however hard it may seem. So, there are low days and there are high ones as well – I would say we should hang on while the low days pass and capitalise on the high ones.
Cheers
Abizer
Hi Abizer thank you for visiting my blog, yes I too have the occasional ‘low’ day, for instance, due to unavoidable circumstances, today is the first day in almost a week I have been able to get stuck into my business again… that leaves me feeling frustrated because apart from the fact I just absolutely love this business, I know I need to keep a steady momentum going.
Still, these things happen and we just have to work through them as best we can, the end result is well worth everything it takes to get there!.
All the best
Pete
Success is hard work.
I am glad you have taken steps to course correct and start moving towards your dreams.
It is great to see that you in-turn are helping others do the same.
Thanks for your visit Daniel, yes helping others who in turn help us (even if its a year later they return the favour) is part of how the info publishing/internet marketing business works, and that makes it all the more enjoyable!.
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
Terrfifc post mate! It can be so hard for so many trying to create an online business for themselves and create a better life with more freedom, there is just so much competition now. But I do still strongly beleive that wioth the right determination and support – anything us possible.
I have 2 quotes printed on a piece of paper that I keep just above my work desk that really help keep me going when I feel like giving up and I thought I would share them with you and your readers:
”The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.”
Arthur C. Clarke
”Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
Robert Collier
Hi Steve glad you liked my post, it was certainly enjoyable (and self enlightening) writing it, and yes there does seem to be an ever increasing amount of competition, and a lot of it is releasing some great products, which probably makes some of us ‘newbies’ wonder how on earth we are even going to make the slightest dent in the on-line market…, but if we step back and think about it and listen to some good advice (like for instance what you teach in your excellent ‘Build Your Ebiz With Resell Rights And PLR‘ product) then we will realise the key is to either create and release something similar which maybe addresses any short comings and adds more detail/functionality, and/or release something with a different package of accompanying products, so part of the trick is to ‘make it different’ while making sure we are actually targeting a profitable niche in whatever market we have adopted.
I like your two motivational quotes Steve, I think I’ll remember them!.
Thanks for commenting
All the best
Pete
Hi Pete,
What an excellent post and ‘the great escape’ or quitting their job is what millions of people yearn for. At least you are doing something about it.
Although I was self employed all my working life (now retired)where at least I was rewarded substantially for my efforts, I can sympathise with your desire for something better and it looks as though you are now on your way to achieving that.
I will follow your progress with interest.
Regards,
Bill
Hi Bill thanks for stopping by, there is certainly a good feeling even when only seeing small limited results for the first time, because it shows if you can achieve something small then there is no reason why you can’t turn something small into something much bigger!, and that is all part of the journey to changing your life for the better!.
Cheers
Pete

Pete:
Thanks for a great post using an analogy that most don’t really want to think about.
You give me faith that if I “keep on keeping on” and refuse to accept the state of my life, I will start seeing those sales trickle in.
Thanks again for making me think.
Kat
Hi Kat I’m glad you like my post, if it inspires and motivates you to ‘keep on keeping on’ then it has done its job and I am happy!.
Keep on thinking…and dreaming because dreams really can come true!
Pete
Hi Pete, a fascinating article! The Great Escape is the perfect story and analogy for the struggles and desperations of modern life and the ultimate quest for freedom even if it’s on a motorcycle.
Take care, Steve D.
Hi Steve glad you found my post interesting, there are so many events throughout history which we can use to motivate and guide us through our lives, and of course the core message is… never give up your quest to fulfil your dreams!
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
Awesome Awesome Post!
So glad I finally got here in my blog hopping rounds for the challenge!
“If you don’t try to change your life, nothing will change for the better and you will never know true freedom, it’s your choice, fear is just an illusion, and can be conquered with the right mindset, if you tell yourself you can’t do something you have already made it 10 times more difficult than it actually is.”
This comment above that you wrote is so true. It really is up to the individual whether they succeed in what they want to do or not!
It took a couple of life changing events to change me over time and truthfully it has been a life time of learning and as each life changing event occurs I change even more.
I honestly believe people can be lazy! They want everything done for them and do not want to do it themselves. The thing here is that if success does come to them with out much work involved, they will loose it so quickly too! I have had that happen to me so I know that one personally.
I think the thing is people really need to believe in themselves and their own convictions. If they don’t believe in themselves then who is going to believe in them?
Hope everything is going well.
“Where there is a will, there is a way!”
See you back here soon at the end of the challenge.
Cheers
Jacinta
Hi Jacinta thank you for popping by and for your nice comment, yes I’ll agree people can be lazy…I’v been that way myself in the past because I lacked motivation to get off my backside and try to make a difference, but that was the old me who was going nowhere fast, and the essence of the new me is spelled out in my ‘Great Escape…’ post, that was written from the heart and describes some of how I feel every single day, and a wonderful side effect of attaining my self belief (that is the belief that I am actually achieving something and going somewhere) is that I often find myself smiling a lot more…especially when I am having a particularly hard day at work… how strange is that?.
Thanks again
Best wishes
Pete
It was interesting to read your post and all the comments about the the great escape or quitting their job challenge. I did not consider it at this time but this really make me to ponder. This remind me of Khalil Gibran famous saying about life. “Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” Thanks for sharing his read.I hope quality discussions follow this post.
Hi Shakira thanks for visiting and commenting, I am unfamiliar with the poet Khalil Gibran, but the words you quote
“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.”
make perfect sense… I think I will keep that quote in mind, thank you for sharing it with me!.
Best regards
Pete
Hi Pete,
Excellent and inspiring post and one that is very easy to relate to.
Your analogy serves as a timely reminder that those who fought for our country in the World Wars, made it possible for us to follow our dreams today.
All credit to you Pete for making some sales in your internet business, I am sure there will be more on the way.
Great to meet you on the challenge and I look forward to keeping in touch.
Regards,
Brian
Pete, great analagy that you use here. Never really thought of the endeavours to break free from the grind of a JOB to be somewhat similar to those of POWs (NB. not at all to demean those people who fought bravely for their country) but as you say it does take a great deal of courage, determination and elbow grease to get there. But if we keep taking action, learning and supporting each other then we will be able to make our Great Escape! All the best,
Tom
Hi Pete
This is a great motivational post. We need strong images and emotion to get us up and running for freedom. I am now even more determined to finish the 100- blog comment challenge and then get on with my ebook and all that goes with that.
All the very best.
Good luck
Eamon
Hi Pete,
Wonderful post. It’s amazing that so many people would rather continue a life of misery instead of taking action towards entrepreneurship. I decided to begin an online business because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired! lol. I was spending most of my time working a stressful job that I absolutely hated. Although my salary was decent, It did not allow me to have the quality of life I desired. I decided to take my chances. I am so glad that I did!
Much Success,

Hi Pete
Brilliant post & like the site too.
This post is bang on the mark!
I’ve had times in the past where I’ve wanted to throw in the towel but I never gave in and pushed on through the negativity surrounding me.
The feeling you get from achieving what you believe is the “impossible” is such as rush it’s unbelieveable.
I’ll remember this post for the next time I’ve got a mountain to climb!
Stay healthy
Alex.
Hi Pete!
I definitely hear you on wanting that freedom, and to escape the prison that so many of us find ourselves in financially, emotionally, or whatever the case may be. I’ve been on this journey to create my own business and the life I really want for a few years now, and it’s not easy, but I wouldn’t choose any other way. There is just no way I can go back to the JOB routine and stay stuck in living paycheck to paycheck and bill to bill.
There’s definitely a better way, like you say.
Hi Jess glad you stopped by, it certainly is not as easy as we are led to believe, to set up our own internet business, but despite all the pitfalls and frustration it sure is fun!.
Thanks for commenting…
Pete
Hi Pete,
Yes, very powerful post indeed!
One of the things my grandmother (who had a rough go of it) used to say is “It’s a good life if you don’t weaken.”
I’ve really had some rough times along the way too, who doesn’t right?
So, I hang tough.
Here’s another saying I like
“When you’re going through hell, keep going”
All the best to you!
Sally
Hi Sally it sounds like your grandmother had the measure of it!, have you noticed how many of the most successful entrepreneurs in the information publishing/internet marketing business started from pretty aweful beginnings?, there is hope for all of us so long as we don’t lose the faith in what we want to achieve…
Best regards in your on-line endeavours
Pete
Pete:
That was an awesome post! I loved the analogy.
The “why” we want to be successful is so important. It is our driving force that we need to learn the “how” to be successful.
To many people think that starting an online business it just about creating a website or blog and then sales will hwppen automatically. People want the easy way; this is a problem with society today.
Congrulations on the few sales. When that first sale happens it shows us that we can do, then we have to keep doing it.
Best of luck to you!
- Rick
Hi Pete,
Very inspiring post – I expect 99% of people that are trying to create an online biz are doing it for similar reasons as yourself (I know I am).
Getting a mentor (Alex Jeffreys is mine)and having the right mindset are the two of if not the most important steps you can take to save both time, money and loads of frustration in the quest for online success. You seem to have both sorted and with hard work and persistance your success is inevitable.
Glad to see your determination is now starting to pay off – Keep it up.
To your success
Michelle
Hey Pete, good analogy. It’s my understanding and experience that you’re 100% right: if a true commitment hasn’t been made, it’s very unlikely that success will follow. We get wrapped up in process and methodology: the HOW. But much more important is the personal decision: the WHY.
Congrats on sticking with it and moving past the initial setbacks. They only serve to deepen your understanding that YOUR COMMITMENT is what really matters. High five!
Peace,
Lauren
Very Powerful. Thanks for sharing this! NEVER GIVE UP. That’s what always is in my mind as I have created my own team building company call Financial Wealth Builers
Hi Pete, Like many of the previous posts I have been in so many ruts over the last 20 years I thought i was destined to fail in every task I attempted. I also had (still have)the joe Karbo book which John McNally mentions but I was one of the ones who thought too much effort needed..and it was for lazy people. That shows how ignorant I was. Nowadays I think of one simple word..FOCUS. I’ve worked 60 hrs a week for over 20 years so I know i’m not lazy therefore it is the focus I am lacking.
Thanks to JT and the MC I feel like part of a team all striving to help each other ‘get over that fence’ So I now know it can be done so I will be one of the ones who do it!
Great post Pete!
Keith
Hi Pete,
I love how you tied in the subject with Internet Marketing.
Alot of failure online can be related to fear, people can become scared of success, it has happened to me many times.
I think I worked online, half expecting to fail, when the results starting coming in positively, I panicked ha ha.
Sally
This is a great take on not giving up! You really have to pick a model and stick to it for this internet marketing thing to work. I dont think new people are told this enough – they are led to believe that things will just happen magically overnight if they “buy my wonderful product that will solve all your problems that you will never figure out own your own without giving me $97!” LOL I’m sure you have some great advice that people need to take notice of!

Hi, Pete,
Your post is right on! The only thing keeping us imprisoned is ourselves. You have only inspired me to keep at this until I succeed.
Thank you, Pete.

Hi Pete
I liked your post very much.
Motivation is the key to most things, that and getting a very clear perspective on what is really important in life.
Best of luck with what remains of the “100″ challenge.

Mike
Hi Pete,
A very brave piece and rewarding to read.

Hi Pete,
Your post is very powerful and stirring to action.
Life is a fight and there is no honor in giving up. It’s much better to keep on going and working at improving our situation.

Hi Pete,
I’ve been hopping my heart out trying to get to all these blogs to honor my commitment to this challenge. I still have a lot of ground to cover so I can leave a comment. There is a lot of interesting blogs out there.
Have a good one.
Enjoy the Challenge.

Hi Pete,
Your post is quite an inspiration. The will to continue and persist is a human trait through which we need to develop through and through. I will download your report and review it soon. Thank you so much for sharing with us your thoughts on self-development.

Hi Pete,
You have done an amazing job of shedding light on the subject of perseverance. I like the ministering approach because you touch on points that matter to lots of people… There are many touting online profits without stressing the amount of work required.
You hit it on the head… Work at it, stay the course… I wish you mega success! Stopped by on my 11th hour visit for the 100 comment challenge.
Best,
Elizabeth
hi Pete
Love the angle of this post – you’re well read in history! lol
Yep – it really does require perseverance to keep this juggernaut of IM going to the top of the hill and make that sale – then it becomes easier on the way down – just needs a real steady hand on the steering!
Keep persevering and see you around!
Jennifer
PS Sorry I missed the 31st Aug deadline
Since we are discussing
The Great Escape (or start a ‘work from home’ internet business and change your life) :, The internet allows for interactive marketing by providing immediate responses, which is a unique advertising trait. Internet marketing has often been thought to have a wider range due to the fact that it refers to digital media forms such as email, internet, and wireless methods. However, there is also digital customer data management and electronic management of customer relationships available.
Hi Pete
While on my “Blogging Jog” for the day I came accross your amazing article. I was riveted from the first to last word, great post and a lot can be learnt from it.
I am presently on JT’s Masterclass and loving it, its given me the motivation and guidance that I was looking for its like I have been reborn!
Thank again for a great article ..I have shared this article via twitter
Regards
Ian
Hi Ian thanks for dropping by, Yep I also found joining J.T’s masterclass was a bit of a revelation, after more than two years of wandering round in circles I finally found I was able to start ‘joining the dots’ and make some real progress, plus it gave me the confidence start creating my first product!.
Keep at it Ian, no matter how hard it may seem at times, just never give up!.
Just taken a look at your blog…and its looking pretty good!
Cheers
Pete
I am glad that i found this site very informative,Some of the cool business ideas, money making opportunities, and ideas for multiple income streams here were selected because they were endorsed by respectable business magazines like Entrepreneur or the former Home Office Computing. Many have undergone extensive personal evaluations by me including product reviews and interviewing the resource developers. Any resource that I have not personally used or reviewed have been determined to come from reputable sources.
To many people think that starting an online business it just about creating a website or blog and then sales will happen automatically. People want the easy way; this is a problem with society today.

This post is a real inspiration for me. Due to downsizing I have no work now for almost 4 months, but no need to worry. I love staying at home and I know that I can double my income by staying at home and do business online.

I truly like your websites. Nice content articles! You should continue submitting these types of amazing cotent.
This is really interesting, You are a very skilled blogger. I have joined your feed and look forward to seeking more of your excellent post. Also, I’ve shared your website in my social networks!
Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a excellent job with this. Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Safari. Outstanding Blog!
